Learn more about Tenute Poggiazzi...
Ideally positioned between Florence and Siena, Tenute Poggiazzi is an exclusive, fully-staffed villa in Tuscany. Meticulously restored, its intelligent climate-controlled interiors are paired with an in-villa spa and a 17-metre heated infinity pool, boasting panoramic views over the Montagnola Senese and Chianti hills.
The villa owner and house manager, hailing from a prominent Chianti winemaking family, is on hand to attend to your every need. Indulge in private vineyard dinners and tastings of the estate’s wines and olive oils, enjoy guided hikes along the historic Via Francigena, and book a private cooking class where you'll master the art of pasta-making with your in-villa chef.
The villa’s spa is a haven for relaxation, complete with a hammam sauna, emotional shower, and Turkish bath (fees apply). Unwind with in-villa yoga classes led by Mary Baker on the expansive covered outdoor terrace, barefoot walks through olive groves or massages in the garden. The tranquil location makes Tenute Poggiazzi an idyllic retreat for those seeking rejuvenation in the heart of Tuscany.
Thoughtfully designed for guests seeking an exceptional and authentic Italian experience, every detail has been carefully curated. Architect Ricardo Rosi, renowned for his expertise in Tuscan farmhouse renovations, oversaw the sensitive restoration of this 1500s granary, preserving its agricultural heritage while reimagining it as a modern and luxurious space. Together with acclaimed interior designer Emilia Bonelli, they ensured the estate’s deep connection to local craftsmanship was reflected throughout. Every detail is made-to-measure, from modular sofas to a travertine dining table in the pool house, crafted by local artisans.
Accommodation is spread across the main villa and three guesthouses, ensuring plenty of space and privacy. Each impeccable ensuite bedroom is affectionately named after prestigious automotive brands, such as Bugatti and Maserati, reflecting the owners passion of vintage cars.
The pool house is the social heart of Tenute Poggiazzi, where relaxation and fine dining come together seamlessly. Flooded with natural light, this open-plan dining and living area is framed by glass doors that open directly onto the gardens and 17-metre heated infinity pool with stunning views of the rolling hills of Tuscany, creating an effortless indoor-outdoor lifestyle. You'll enjoy alfresco meals prepared by our in-villa chef as you soak up the views.
Tenute Poggiazzi is set at the foot of Monte Maggio, just 6km from the medieval walled village of Monteriggioni, with its perfectly preserved fortifications and charming piazza lined with restaurants, cafés, and artisan shops. Nestled within the Montagnola Senese, the villa is surrounded by untouched landscapes teeming with wildlife, serene forests, hiking trails, and the Diborrato Waterfall, making it a haven for nature lovers. The villa’s privileged position places it along the historic Via Francigena, the ancient pilgrimage route connecting Western Europe to Rome, now celebrated as a European Cultural Route and offering scenic trails ideal for hiking or cycling.
The villa lies between the Chianti region and Siena (20km), making it the perfect base for balancing wine tastings with cultural exploration. Chianti’s iconic hilltop villages, such as Castellina in Chianti and Radda in Chianti, are both under 40 minutes away, offering opportunities to enjoy world-class wineries. Around 30 minutes from the villa, Siena awaits with its striking Piazza del Campo, home to the famous Palio di Siena horse race, and the breathtaking Duomo di Siena. Meanwhile the iconic landmarks of San Gimignano (20km) and Florence (40km) can both be reached in under an hour.

Getting there...
I highly recommend planning to arrive in Italy at least one day prior to the retreat to allow for transfers, delays, and to get your bearings in a different time zone. While the Florence Amerigo Vespucci Airport is the closest to Tenute Poggiazzi (less than an hours drive), flights into Rome may be more affordable as it is a larger airport. If you choose to fly to Rome, you can book a slow moving tour on a train that makes scenic stops along the 3 1/2+ hour route or a bullet train that will get you to the Florence train station in less than 2 hours. I will be providing pick up on the afternoon of September 19th at both the Florence Airport as well as the train station to transport you to our villa for the week. On 9/26 you'll once again receive a ride back to either the train station or airport to head off on the next part of your Italian adventure. Once you've booked your spot for the retreat, I'll provide support to help you plan out the rest of your trip and your transportation options.
Again, cost of flights and travel insurance is not included in your package.
